Our story

The Cuttlefish journey began in 1990 with a team of three, and quickly established itself as Brighton's first eco salon. Over the years, our numbers have grown to accommodate demand, yet we remain a close-knit team united with a passion for offering a unique approach to hairdressing.

Our clients well-being is of utmost importance to us. That, together with our high standard of hairdressing, has earned us a strong loyal following, supporting our commitment to a cleaner, greener approach to hairdressing.

We are proud to be one of the longest standing shops in the bohemian vibrant North Lanes of Brighton, a location that truly reflects the character of Cuttlefish.

Cemented as an integral part of our home town, in 2017, we decided to reach sustainable need further afield and opened a second salon in the market town of Lewes.

Here, our team of senior stylists, colourists, and deva trained specialists have gone from strength to strength, paralleling our Brighton team in providing a bespoke eco-friendly experience in a relaxed environment.

Expanding our presence along the south coast in 2023, we opened our largest salon to date in our neighbouring town of Hove. This salon is also home to our first official training academy.

Education has always been something we feel passionate about and we are excited about the new opportunities this has opened up for us.
